"The TB is off the car. Can someone tell me how to adjust the position of the TB plate i.e. idle screw?
Should it be fully closed? Should there be a paper thin space around the plate when I hold it up and look through the light?
• According to the Regina greenbook, The idle screw is not adjusted "on the bench". Leave it where it is (or set it a "wink" open) and go through the procedure below (based on the Regina FI Greenbook) after it's back together and running.
Throttle Speed Setting (Check and Adjustment)
1) Idle Speed Testing (RA1)
— Is the throttle plate position OK? Test with engine warm and idling.
— Pinch IAC hose shut (so the throttle is the only source of air) and check RPM.
• "Engine speed should be below 500 rpm. It is not a fault is the engine stops."
If engine speed does not pass this test, the idle speed needs adjusting.
2) Idle Speed Adjustment (RA2)
— Loosen adjustment screw lock nut.
— Turn adjustment screw as needed to get 480-520 idle rpm.
— Switch engine off.
— Grip adjustment screw so it can't rotate and tighten lock nut.
— Continue with follow-up checking.
3) Follow-up Checking (RA3)
— Use feeler gauges between the tip of adjustment screw and throttle lever...
— With 0,45mm (.018") gauge in place, TPS must NOT click when throttle closes.
— With 0,15mm (.006") gauge in place, TPS should click when throttle closes.
• If TPS click fails either check dimension, the TPS needs adjustment (below).
Throttle Switch Adjustment
1) Disconnect throttle switch wiring plug
— Loosen mounting screws and rotate switch clockwise. (RC1)
2) Switch Position Setting (RC2)
— Place 0,25mm (.010") gauge between the tip of adjustment screw and throttle lever.
— Rotate switch slowly (counter clockwise) until it clicks.
— Tighten switch and go to follow-up check.
3) Follow-up Checking (same as RA3 above)
