140-160 Injection 140-160

There is a 74 142 that's been for sale in my area for awhile now. I'm not interested in the car, but it has been the topic of discussion this evening. I've done some browsing here and elsewhere and have found references to 140-160 cars with K-jet in 73 and 74. I was under the impression everything was D-jet from 70 on until K-jet hit the 240 in 75. Were both used? Regional differences? Emissions?

Thanks,
DS

    David!
To the best of my knowledge all of the 74 140s were K-jet, also known as CIS.
I had one of these setups (not sure where I got it) and sold it to Cason Grover in Nashville.
As others have said, ALL the injected 164s had D-jet although in 1975 they also had an electric
auxiliary air valve, air injection into the exhaust and electronic ignition.
Far as I know this was the ONLY Volvo/Bosch distributor that was both electronic and
had trigger points for D-jet, giving me some ideas that I have not been able to implement yet
    for a B20E/F.
Also as far as I know all the B30E/F engines had the cute little cast arn headers
with dual pipes all the way to the muffler.
I've just gotten the 72 164E that Kent gave me into operation and it has the 75 electronic distributor,
which worked like a charm after sitting since 2004. In spite of 3 injectors being stopped up
it started IMMEDIATELY on the first try.

    - In the US market -

The injected 140 series was D-Jet 71-73, K-jet 74. In 71, there were only a handful (relatively speaking) of injected 142e's sold... it was actually an option package, with radial tires, leather, etc. In 72 you do get into regional differences, with carbs on some 140's; they were sold basically in the Eastern half of the US, as I recall. The rest of the 140's that year were injected. In 73, all 140's were injected.

    The US spec 164 was D-Jet (and *only* D-jet, I believe) 72-75.
