Searching for that perfect 242, my absolute fave 200 series model body, I found this advert for a 1976 Volvo 242 DL. In the most awesome color of the Volvo International Safety Orange (same color as the Golden Gate Bridge).

So you can drive this fabulous Volvo on the Golden Gate Bridge. And then *pouf* all is unseen as you are all camouflaged while motoring across the Golden gate Bridge. International Safety Orange is cool whether on RWD Volvos or Golden Gate Bridges. So is International Safety Blue and Yellow. Dunno of any Volvo in any other international safety colors, though.

    It's beautiful! I once saw a 70's station wagon in this color on ebay! I salivated over that thing for months after it was gone! :)

      Nice looking car and cool color, but NOT the color of the Golden Gate Bridge. Bridge is much more red in color, almost like a red oxide primer color red.

        The bridge can actually look diferent at times, depending on the angle of the sun-but Ive never seen it that color (of that Volvo).

        I agree--the GG Bridge is far from that color. I live in the SF bay area, I know.

          I'd like to live in the SF Bay Area. Just the North Bay, now. Used to live in Novato.

          I'll get some scrapings next time I visit and compare. I guess it a more red color. See the image. Yeah, way more red than the 1975 242 DL in international safety orange.

          From my August 2011 visit travelling via my awesome 1991 240 sedan (moon roof, M47 II manual tranny).



          Did not jump off it this time. Maybe next visit in a few months.
