Gasoline filler hose for 220 120-130 1967

Me again, with another silly question.

Last October, I ordered 13525 RS Fuel filler hose AZ 220 each $13.16
121520 RS Filler hose clamp for 13525 2/car each $2.34

from V-P. They haven't arrived Stateside yet. I am getting a little discouraged because if I make a hard right turn, gasoline spills out of the old hose connection somewhere. Plus, filling the tank will dribble some on the ground while filling.

Are there suitable hose and clamps that I can buy that will handle gasoline? I am not sure if getting a heater hose will work for this application. I haven't checked the diameter of the fuel pipe.

    Gasoline filler hose for 220 - help 120-130 1967

I can't get the old hose off! The clamps are off, the hose can be moved down just enough to clear the top filler neck, but that leaves a lot to be desired.

Does the top filler neck need to come off? After removing the 4 screws and putting the cap back on (keeps out dirt), it will only come out about 1/4 inch. There is a rubber gasket of sorts holding it in - tight! It could be because of the liberal amount of undercoating not allowing slipage, the rubber flange appears to be thin at the bottom.

I am afraid if I manhandle the top filler hose, I might ruin the gasket. And if I manage to pull off the hose with the top in place, I will have a most difficult time putting the new hose back on.

And to think I wanted to take Xena for a spring time romp this weekend...

      Hello,

Technically, you do not need to remove the filler neck, but essentially that is what you need to do.

I believe you have to turn the filler neck to the correct position before you remove it.

IIRC, the filler pipe should have a nipple for a vent hose and for some reason the notch in the body does not directly line up so you have to twist filler pipe a little to get the pipe in the right direction to pull it out.

        Gasoline filler hose for 220 - replaced 120-130 1967

        Thank's Eric!

While you replied, I twisted the old hose off with the neck loose, but in place. That gave me an extra 1/4 inch which I needed. The new hose went on smoothly and with new clamps. I wonder what I should do with the 2 nice OEM(?) wire clamps, parts bin...

I did not see a vent nipple, it doesn't look like it came with the 2 inch pipe. Probably doesn't need it. If there is one, it is hidden.

Now to try it out. There is only 1/4 tank of gasoline and it better not leak again when I fill'er up.

Gasoline filler hose for 220, continued 120-130 1967

The garage floor warmed up early this Spring! I am back in business.

Question about the filler neck connector. There was about 1/4inch of putty covering the bottom clamp to the frame. I chipped most of it away, but I haven't tried to loosen the 10mm clamps yet. The bottom clamp looks great, no rust, to top clamp is in good shape. The black paint looks new, where I didn't scratch it. But there is a faint smell of gasoline.

There is a 'rubber' gasket at the bottom of the filler pipe, I assume to keep water out of the frame rail and to keep the neck from hitting same. It is pushed down in the rear, is it OK to get a pick and attempt to pull the gasket back around the neck?

    Gasoline filler hose for 220 120-130 1967

    Hello,

We buy our fuel filler hose from Napa.

However, we now have to buy 2-3 feet at at time as my local Napa shop does not want to stock the hose.

We used to be able to buy just the length we needed.

So we have plenty in stock as well as the proper style of large ABA hose clamps that will not damage the hose.
