Needed - rear muffler and tailpipe for 164E 140-160 1972

I got the Mroon 164E started and running on SOME cylinders last night. Need to check the FI trigger points to get them all running - no biggie.
It was the first time it had run since 2003 but once I got the fuel system problems ironed out it started RIGHT UP!

But the rear muffler and resonator have holes rusted in them and blew out a bunch more rust after I started
it up. So I need a rear muffler, p/n 679111 and/or a resonator/tailpipe, p/n 694593 or plain tailpipe new
or slightly used.
I do have new mounting kits but don't have those mufflers/pipes.

If you can help with this post here or e-mail me at [username follows] gdowns [at] cableone [dot] net [nothing follows]
Many thanks for any help you can give on this!

Starla (Walker) still makes the components.

I got a Starla rear muffler from the local Carquest about 2 years ago for around 45 bucks and a 164 tailpipe w/ resonator from FCP for 20.
The resonator may have been a close-out. I can't figure any other reason it'd be so cheap.

I guess my point is that replacements are out there and they're not terribly expensive. Though I've never been overly impressed with Starla's longevity. Seems the best I've ever gotten is about 3 years.

Thanks for the info. My local parts house can probably get them then.
Part of the problem is that the rear muffler rarely gets hot enough to get completely dry
inside, so like 122 floorboards, they rust through from the inside.
I imagine long-trip driving would help a lot, but not too many folx are doing that with 164s.

"but not too many folx are doing that with 164s."

Well dammit, folx should be. THat's what 164s are so good at (well, except perhaps the fuel economy)

If all goes as planned, I'll be hittin' the road next week in the ES... More on that in the forum to the left, if it happens.
