65 Rear End 1800

Ireplaced the pinion seal on the rear end of my 65 1800 and now I have noise, almost like a scraping sound, from it. Any ideas on what I did to it and how to correct it? Thanks

Are you sure you got all your shims in the right places? If ONE is out of place it shifts the mating of the pinion with the ring gear.
Also do you have plenty lube in the diff?

Hello,

Is there any chance you bent the oil deflector?

The order of parts from the outside of this job is:

1: Pinion nut
2: Thick washer
3: Pinion flange for driveshaft
4: Pinion seal
5: Oil deflector
6: Pinion bearing
7: Shims
