Suggestions on patching dash crack 200 1986

I recently picked up a near perfect dash with all necessary accessories from a '92 240 sedan. I want to install it into my '86 sedan. There is one crack to the left of the left defrost vent that can't be seen from the driver seat. It's about 2" long, 1/4" wide and 3/8" deep. What's the best way to seal this up and make it less noticeable overall? Thanks for looking.

You're going to have a hell of a time fixing this. The vinyl has dried and split. In trying to fill the void and bracing the crack from both sides to prevent further splitting I do believe ANYTHING you put on it will be More noticeable. If your old dash is trashed try this.Strip away a piece of the vinyl and try to fix a small area on the old one.Don't use crazy glue, when it dries the edges will be too hard.Maybe rubber cement glue, something that will dry but not be too stiff.Practice, trial and error on your old one.

I can't vouch for how this would work on a 240, but I recall a discussion similar to this from my days in the Triumph Spitfire circles on the internet - http://triumphspitfire.rickbaines.com/recovering-a-cracked-dashboard-top/

I've got a '92 with one small crack that I should see to. What is the best preventative plasticizer that people use?
