When I click on a member's email envelope my Hotmail page opens up and the email address of the person I am sending to is a bunch of numbers, symbols, etc and obviously some kind of glitch as no email can be sent and I get a message on the Hotmail page that says this is not a proper email address. Please help an old confused geezer!

I so not use Hotmail as my primary email account but thought the encrypted email address that you get when trying to email a board member should work.

I sent you a test message from Hotmail using:

bbanon+c8dd0e1826f14b9fbabf7bd513d97a98@brickboard.com

and it seemed to go through, but of course we won't know that until it arrives at your inbox- it did, however, indicate that the message had been sent.

I got your email Randy and tried to reply to it via my Hotmail and got it bounced back with a message about improper ciphertext from Hotmail. There is something about the encrypted address that angers my Hotmail and I don't know how to fix it. Thank you for your effort.

Apparently you can Send mail using the anon-bb address through this site, but you cannot Reply to that address, same as with Craigslist.
So ensure that the 'real' email address is either in the 'reply to' or somewhere in the body of the email, to copy/paste to the 'To' box.

I would be happy if that were the case with my Hotmail however it will not allow me to even send email to the anon-bb encrypted member email address. I get a yellow warning on the top of the message that says this is not a valid email address. The same thing happens when I try to respond to Craigslist ads. I must have an obsolete version of Hotmail I guess and I am unable fix it. Quite annoying I must say.

I guess that since Hotmail is a free service they can bounce whatever they want
and you
have no recourse.
The bbanon addresses have worked fine for me.

The banon email address is encripted so that unsavory persons do not get your email address off the web site.
