Died on the road 700

85 740. Just died driving. History, wiring harness replaced. Fuel pump fuse #1 bypassed. Did brief diagnosis, waiting till it warms up. Tach moves on cranking, timing belt intact. Suspected fuel pump relay, no clicking when cranking. Put a jumper wire between 30 & 87/2, key on, no pumps run. Suspect no voltage to 30. Plan is to pull fuse tray and check for voltage and the crimps at fuel pump relay. Does 30 show 12volts with key on or do I need to put voltmeter between 30 & 87/2? No radio suppression relay.
Any other suggestions appreciated.

    Update 700

Well actually encountered two issues. Initially when it died, suspected fuel pump relay. It was warm when I pulled it. Tried jumpered the pumps, nothing happened. Pulled the fuse tray and didn't have volts to #30. I had bypassed the #1 fuse years ago. That's where the issue was. Poor connection. Fixed that and got it started but the main pump was alot nosier than before. Shut it off and tried a restart and no luck. Jumpered the relay again, no pump noise from the main, just the intake. So replaced the pump, all is good. I suspect the pump was dying. Thanks for all the help

    Couple answers from posters:
    No 25amp fuse for injectors.
No crank sensor for this year group.

Have you done the basics? Fuel at the rail? Spark?

"Does 30 show 12volts with key on or do I need to put voltmeter between 30 & 87/2?"

Qualified by the fact I have no experience with a 700, I agree with Goatman any terminal designated "30" should be battery "hot all the time."

Anyway, from what I've seen of 700's in the yards, with the guts hanging out of the ashtrays, you're probably on the right path going in there. Or maybe something near the battery itself. Just guesses. That's what mostly seems to work on this forum.

    Hi,

Terminal 30 should show voltage (be hot) at all times. Is your 25 amp fuse intact? Does this model have a 25 amp fuel injection fuse?
