Center & rear consoles and armrest project finished and installed-yippee! 140-160 1969

[EDITED BY ADMINISTRATOR]
It only took me a year! Here is my final project on my 164. Installed a modified 140 center console to fit the 164. Also modified a 164 front console to fit as a rear console/drink holder/ minibar. Finally, an armrest modified from a rare 240 armrest w/ cupholders, made to lift and collapse into its legs and store downward between the seats. All finished and I still have time to trim the tree and get into some Sinatra!
Enjoy the photos.
Have a Merry Christmas everybody!

What a really nice custom job. Is the wood a veneer?

Those leather seats are a great design and very comfortable aren't they? Your seats are top of the line. Very nice and prettty.

Merry Chritstmas to you as well

      Thanks!
The wood is solid black walnut. After shaping, sanding, etc., I applied two coats of mirror-coat to the wood face to give it all a high gloss. The seats are very cozy and you really notice after a long drive. I once drove the length of I-10 (Miami-Santa Monica) and didn't feel a thing, except when I ran out of gas twice. The gas gauge was broken. Here's another few shots of the rear console open. It has a magnetic closure, Fischer cupholder, two tequila glasses in leather holders, and a jigger of the best tequila on the planet: Casa Noble Reposado. Yeah, I went a little crazy. I also hooked up the center front console to charge my ipad while it plays the best of the 60's. Volvo Time Machine!

Wow, I thought you were joking when you said minibar...

Really awesome! I am surprised that you didn't put a coffee maker in there somehwere. What does the rest of the interior look like?

I'm strictly a tea drinker. And an occasional tequila shot.

Here's shots I posted last year in Brickpix:

As a 40+ year owner of a 69 164 (not nearly as pretty as yours) I may be able to give you
a little guidance on the NF gas gauge. On mine, apparently there was a thread disparity of
some sort so that although the nuts on the back of the gauge seemed tight, they did NOT
pinch the terminal under them. I got a bigger wrench and tightened them up until they
were indeed tight on the ring lugs under them and they worked like a charm.
It DID take a surprising amount of torque so it may be that the wrong nuts were supplied.
Just about every very early 140/164 I have worked on had the same problem.
        Having said that,
You have done a FINE job on the interior. It is BEAUTIFUL and ELEGANT.
But be VERY careful about drinking that fine tequila when you drive.
It is so smooth it can really sneak up on you!!
        Have a BLESSED Christmas!

Thanks George. This restoration could not have been done as well without your help and a few others here on Brickboard. If I get over to OK you can take her for a spin (that is, if you don't mind a B30A (K cam) with Strombergs. The tequila is just for show, of course. Have a wonderful. blessed holiday!

Well, if the Strombergs are RIGHT it should be great! Where did you get the K cam?
Let me know when you will be headed this way and we'll at least be good for a meal!

The Stroms are very good I'm happy to say, original too. Not surprisingly, they did need a rebuild. The K cam I bought from KT Trimning. Actually had to buy two. I miscalculated the torque in their all-Swedish catalogue and busted the first one. One in a long line of errors in the 11+ years of rebuilding this 164. It's not just a great car, it's also a learning experience. If I get over your way, I'll buy dinner. The least I can do for your help the last 11 yrs. The offer is also good if you get to Nashville.
