Quick question about hardwiring 240 sedan taillights 200

Hardwiring the taillights, new harnesses made.On the left side connector there are 2 black wires on one end and 2 white wires on the end .I know the white is for a fog light that I will not be using. But when I cut the connector off do I splice the 2 white wires together? Also the same for the 2 black wires, splice together and add to the back up light? On the right connector the white just stays cut and taped?Don't these white wires bring current to the license plate lights? Thanks
Nelson

"On the left side connector there are 2 black wires on one end"Nelson

One of those black wires comes from the back-up light switch and is hot whenever the ignition switch is on and the car is in reverse gear.
The other black wire simply continues on to the right side back-up light to power it also.

"and 2 white wires on the end" Nelson

In similiar fashion to the back-up lights, on of these white wires is hot from the fog light switch, and the other simply travels on to the right side fog light to power it also (if equipped).

"I know the white is for a fog light that I will not be using. But when I cut the connector off do I splice the 2 white wires together"? Nelson

You need to find which one is the hot wire from the fog light switch to the left side light, cut it and cover the exposed end with some tape, etc.
The other white wire will have no function after you do this.

"Also the same for the 2 black wires, splice together and add to the back up light"? Nelson

Those black wires power your back-up lights.
One comes from the back-up light switch and is hot when the ignition switch is on and the transmission is in reverse.
The other continues on to the right side back-up light to power it also.

"On the right connector the white just stays cut and taped"? Nelson

There is really no reason to tape it after you perform the above suggestion for the fog lights.

"Don't these white wires bring current to the license plate lights"?Nelson

That is a different white wire and has no relation to the fog light wiring.
It is powered from and travels directly from fuse #15.

Center contact on bulb is for the positive, outside shell is for the negative although they will work either way.
