Blower Motor Install Complete 200

This is my third Brick, my first solo blower motor install. It was a daunting task. Finished it before winter, that was the goal. I had the luxury of picking at this job over the last three weekends, so frustration was minimal. I had a little trouble remembering where all the screws went (use the egg carton technique) and where all the plugs and lights went on the center console and instrument panel, but thanks to the pictures provided on Art Benstein's www.cleanflametrap.com I was able to quickly figure it out. I really want to thank Art for taking the time to provide us with such a thorough step by step guide to this enormous job, had I followed all of the suggestions on there the job would have gone even smoother. After this accomplishment I stand firmer in my resolve to own and drive only 240 wagons...I am volvo for life!

Thanks a lot Eric. I put those pictures together as a rookie on volvos excited to own a digital camera ten years ago. Hearing your success story helps a lot. Thank you.

Another thanks to you Art. I puchased my first 240, a 92 sedan last year with a burned out blower motor. It was one of my first projects I completed on the car, and thanks to your site I was able to get through it rather problem free.

Congrats. Wondering what symptoms you experienced in advance to the motor failure. I've got two wagons making the occasional bad sound at certain speeds. I'm hoping to make it through the winter though.

Thanks. The noise had been going on for a year. Finally there was smoke coming from the floor at the back of the center console passenger side. The fan was trying to spin but the motor was fried so it was building up resistance and heating up the wires (i think). Kind of scary with smoke coming into the cab. I would turn the fan speed knob and lights would dim. So its up to you, if it's making noise it's going to go at some point. I wouldn't want to be doing the job in the middle of winter, unless you have a heated garage.

        Good Luck!
