Check engine code help needed 200 1989

So, I got codes 1-1-1 and 2-3-1. I'm thinking "heated oxygen sensor" means it just needs to be replaced. Doing part code searches, Amazon seems to be the best place to go. I'm going to get the O^2 socket as well. Is this a fair assessment?
Now, what's the best plan of attack in removing one? PB B'laster? Tighten before loosen... Any other tips?

If the engine light comes on, it is an emissions thing for sure.

I do not know the codes off hand but I think they do not directly point to a 0-2 sensor anyway.

It really means an air leak somewhere first or a lazy 0-2 sensor that will not work with the ECU program map quickly enough.

You are always safe having a backup for testing. If it is not running obliviously bad, it could be a minor as that sensor.

I use a cheap 7/8 inch box end wrench that I cut off to about 6 inches long. I put the new sensor in with just a little anti-seize applied just on the threads.

As far as fighting it out, I have a lead hammer that I use to bump them loose. When you start turning it out and it speaks to you, then, you must work it back and forth and some penetrate will help muffle the cries.

    Phil

i mean there's also a lambda code for 2-3-1 but that must be on the f/i side of things. But wouldn't a bad O^2 make the air/fuel all wrong as well?

Codes for the OBD diagnostics on the 240 were very general and only lead you in a direction such as in this case the engine is running too rich or lean. This could be due to the O2 sensor or any number of other thing such as an air leak after the AMM.

Always reset codes by removing the 25 amp fuse near the battery and see if it returns. If it does first look for air leaks after the AMM to the intake manifold gaskets and make sure the vacuum lines are good.
