Front control arm bolt 140-160

I need a 13 7/8" front control arm bolt for my 1972 142. i didn't think there would be a difference but I have one that is 13 1/8" and is too short. Thanks

Overall length or from under the head, or what?

It is overall length. I don't know what the bolt I have fits, but I do have the longer one on the way. Thanks.

I've always had good luck taking a bolt into a hardware or supply store and matching it. made myself a pair of HD swaybar links.

Be careful doing that with a control arm bolt -- many hardware stores will sell you a grade 2 bolt, which does not belong anywhere on an automobile. I'd be hesitant to even use a grade 5 without knowing what Volvo used -- if I could find a grade 8 with the correct shank length I'd trust that to be strong enough for the job, but it wouldn't be all that cheap or easy to do in the case of a big, super-long bolt like this. And shank length will matter here, as you don't want threads carving up the inside of your crossmember. Plus, you'll need to drill for the castellated nut. I'm all in favor of using grade 8's from Ace, but for this bolt you should just order a proper OEM one.
