I am trying to track down a fresh O ring for the speedometer gear housing on my M41. This is the O ring that forms the seal between the OD and the canister-like bit that holds the speedo gear. No luck finding one on any of the various Volvo parts sites. Any ideas from you all on where to find one would be much appreciated.

FWIW when I need not critical (ie, not a sliding seal etc..) type o rings I go to a bearing house they have all sorts and if I have the piece in hand we try a few, and I usually get a few different kinds to see which squeezes best etc...Very inexpensive and quick compared to ordering online etc...

Found one! Laycock being British I should have thought of this earlier- many of the Triumph sites have D and J type parts.

If you have the old one you might match it up at a hardware store or Home Depot. Even if you if don't have the old one taking the part with the groove for the O ring to a hardware store may allow you to find one of the the right thickness and diameter.

Thanks. local hardware store had it for under a buck. Should have taken this advice earlier.
