Squeaking Chirping sound from rear driver's door ??? 200 1993

Ok. So there is this super annoying chirping squeak sound, almost like a cricket, coming from the rear driver's side door whenever the car is in motion. I know it's coming from inside the door panel somewhere but I can't pinpoint it beyond that because I had to sit in the back with the wife driving to get it narrowed down to that side and I haven't had a chance to go further with the door panel off. Has anyone else come across such a thing? It's driving me nuts and we're about to go on an 1800 mile round trip road trip which I can't imagine surviving with that bloody noise.

I had the same thing with the drivers door on my 1800; squeaky, chirpy sounds that eventually get on your nerves. I removed the door panel today and lubed everything that looked like it moved but glanced at the door latch and saw shiny metal. A few drops of #30 on there and the noise is gone. If you haven't already removed your door panel, you might want to try this first.

Squeaking Chirping sound from rear driver's door ??? 200 1993

I can imagine your frustration. I've had squeaks that drove me nuts but mine were coming from under the rear of the suspension. I got under and sprayed everything in sight with PB Blaster. I still dont know what exactly was making the squeaks but i got it and it hasn't come back---yet.

In your case, if it were me, I would remove the door panel to see if i could locate it that way and if not, start spraying everything in the door I could that would not be harmed with the spray. The only real "trick" here is getting off your door panel. I'd have to ask how do you do that as I've never taken off any door panel. . Im sure some of the Brickboarders can tell you how to do that. Maybe a new post with the subject heading something like "How do you remove the rear door panel?" Good luck.

240 door panels are beyond easy...

Remove armrest plugs and unscrew two torx screws

Rotate armrest up until it can be pulled out (about 180 degrees) if it has electric windows you have figure out what to do with the switches and wiring but it is easier to see than explain

Remove lock knob and door release cup surround

Pop off trim plate on regulator knob if you have manual windows, unscrew exposed screw, remove regulator arm and trim ring

Moving around the door edge using a stiff putty knife (or butter knife for that matter) to pop the fasteners loose from the door

Lift door card up over the lock knob stud...unplug speaker if you have one

I said all that to say, it is likely something in the b-pillar area and not the door. The two gaskets, one on the front and one of the rear door, that basically hold the b-pillar trim in place are just plain inadequate for the job. Pull the gaskets, remove any clips if there are any, put a couple of dabs of butyl rubber where the flats of the plastic trim meet metal. Reassemble with gaskets and any clips. Squeak is likely gone. Make sure you do not get any of the butyl near the seat belts as you do not want it melting and ending up on your clothes.
