Oil pressure light comes on once the engine warms up, flickers at idle and goes off at higher RPMs. The sensor is new, wire appears sound, and a pressure test shows 50 PSI at idle. Brake failure light stays on in spite of new brakes all around. Temperature gauge was going haywire as well, so I finally replaced it with an aftermarket unit. I'm contemplating doing the same with the oil gauge, but I'm wondering if there's some relationship between the three that might hold the key.

The wiring harness can be breaking down and giving you lots of odd signals. Take a look at it as it crosses the back portion of the engine near the fire wall. You can patch it up or better yet, install a new one. IPD has them.

It will take awhile but is very doable if you disconnect one wire then connect the new wire or connector one at a time. You could also lable them just to make sure.

Biodegradable wiring gets my vote as well.

Remember that the oil pressure switch is just a path to ground. With the engine off but ignition switch in the run position, you could use a meter or a test lamp between the line to the o/p switch (removed from the switch) and ground, and tug on the wire back to the firewall (or jiggle it along its path) to see if the path to ground is interrupted
