Thanks to Brickboard's suggestion, I have just made my first contact with FCP Groton. Its been a whole different experience from Advance and Pep Boys. Since I have space and 3 940 Wagons, I can begin work on one and wait for parts. More certainty about correct fit and delivery to my house. Thanks again.

When I went to order a rear caliper from FCP, I was asked whether the axle was split of solid. I have the car jacked up so I can see that a straight axle runs from each wheel into the center hub (Universal Joint). But whether they are the same axle inside or not, I can't tell because I can't see.

This one is a 94 Turbo, but I'm guessing the other two '95 Turbo and '95 non-Turbo are the same.

Can you tell me split or solid?

Split axle means IRS, Independent Rear Suspension. No 940 wagons have IRS. 960 sedans had IRS, and late 960 (S90) wagons.

It's odd that they asked that, all 2/7/9 wagons are solid axle and they should know that. The only 940 car that was 'split' or IRS as John said, is the 91 940SE sedan.
