Distributor drive shaft bushing_122s B20 120-130

Hi guys,

Okay so i've completely assembled the bottom-end of a B20 and the distributor drive shaft gets stuck halfway.
I've noticed score marks on the inside of the bushing and can kick myself for not checking this when the block was at the machine shop!

So is it easy to replace?
I'm hoping i can do this without disassembling the bottom-end.

Please help by explaining to me how to replace this bushing as i've tried to clean the bushing with light water paper with no success.

Once again, thanks!!!

    Hello,

If the engine is still out of the car, you are better off pulling the oil pan and the oil pump to repair or replace the bushing.

Volvo never made a tool for changing the bushing.

In the rare cases we have changed the distributor drive bushing, we just used an appropriate sized drift to remove and install it, making sure the hole for the oil passage is properly aligned.

One of the items that always gets attention whenever we rebuild a motor, is to check and set the distributor drive end play which is controlled by the bushing.

It is important to use a gasket under the distributor housing while setting the end play as its thickness is significant.
