Interior lighting -- wiring 200 1989

Hello all! About 2 months ago I bought a new 240 (to me) and haven't really done anything much with it. In driving it Sunday night, I have no interior lights -- at all. No speedometer, shifter lights, heat or anything. The PO said that the blower motor was replaced before selling it and that there have been issues since. I have not looked at it yet, but is there a starting place? Like a common area to begin with?

Thanks in advance guys;

randyB

If fuse 16 is blown, check for these:
- under the shift cover, broken wire to the PRND21 light.
- driver and front passenger seat belt connector light wires.

Remove the kick panels next to the center dash console,very easy, and see if you see any loose ground wires.These will be black with a ring terminal.Maybe one or two were not reinstalled,or not making good ground if too many are on the same screw.

Check your right tail lights and fuse 16. That's a start.

Regarding speedometer and heat -- you are talking about the lighting, right?

Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him what? (Oh, man this is so bad, it's good) A super callused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.

Thanks for the reply Art! Yes, I am speaking of the lights only. The speedometer and heat both work, just no lights!

This is the same car I had the charging issue with and was asking about the volt-guage versus the charging light ... you re-posted a stellar reply with photos and all. It was much appreciated!!

I plan on giving the fuses a good sanding this weekend and then go from there. Was just wondering if the guy who replaced the fan motor might have crossed something up. Dunno what I was guessing at tho'!

Thanks again Art...

Oh, yes, he could have...

Check the right tail light. It is also on fuse 16. If it is working, leave the fuses alone for now and investigate the dimmer rheostat. That can take a hit during a blower motor replacement. Be sure fuse 16 is an 8A (white) fuse.

A woman has twins and gives them up for adoption. One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named Ahmal. The other goes to a family in Spain; they name him Juan. Years later, Juan sends a picture of himself to his birth mother. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wishes she also had a picture of Ahmal. Her husband responds, "They're twins! If you've seen Juan, you've seen Ahmal."
