Key numbers on locks? 120-130

A friend has just dragged home a wagon in a pretty scruffy state but it has no door keys. Do the lock barrels have their numbers on? I think they are FS types.

Ya know, a long time ago when wandering around Barcelona, I found an abandoned 122, and the ignition key to the 210 I had at the time actually opened the door to the 122! You might try any of the 122, 544 keys you have and see if they work.

Although that doesn't answer the question, I know what you mean. Way back, my first Amazon was a '61 B16. Locked myself out, walked round the corner to the local garage and the guy let me take away his board of FS keys, about 200 of them. Car opened with about the fifth key. It wasn't the right one but solved my problem. I did buy another correct one though.

My friend has taken the handle off but can't see any numbers. He's going to take it to a parts market to see if he can get a match.

A good locksmith can cut him a new key, quite easily. Just have him bring the handle with the tumbler as one piece. Let the locksmith know what the original keys look like (doesn't need to be the exact key, of course, just type).

Yes, there are key codes on the cylinders. My issue is that the last locksmith in the area that seem to have those codes, disappeared about 10 years ago. None of the old time locksmiths seem to have them any more. They used to cut keys by code for about half of what they charged to take the lock apart and cut one that way....

Key numbers on locks? 120-130

I just had a set cut for my 66 122. I've done it twice with 122s I had. The first set I used the trunk lock because it's easy to get out (about 2 minutes compared to taking the doors apart). This time, the car had no cylinder in the trunk and I wanted a match set for the three locks. I had a unkey set of locks (all three) from a parts car that I used this last time (still haven't ripped the doors apart to replaced the handles yet).

No numbers on the cylinder that the locksmith or I could find. He had some tool that put into the cylinder that gave him number that he used to cut the new key.
