How do you get lube oil into an M40 transmission?

Can't find a way to get oil from quart bottle into transmission fill hole and don't have bulk pump.

Funnel and 4 foot hose from engine bay?

removing the gear lever is easiest, and is how I'd do it.

Have it in neutral before you remove the lever.. otherwise, it can be hard to get back in.

If you had a transmission with linkage and remote shifter.. I've found that a 4 foot hose (or maybe 8 feet) taped to a funnel or directly to the bottle, which is hung upside down from the open hood latch works good. A catch pan underneath to collect the overflow.

Or get a pump. They ain't expensive and are real handy to have around. Especially for when you feel the need to replace the fluid in the differential.

I take out the gearstick and use a funnel from inside the car. Super easy to do it this way - bigger hole and you have gravity on your side.

I just have a length of hose about 8 inches long I clamp onto the fill nozzle of my bottle of gear oil. It allows me to get into whatever angle I need etc.
