Discs & Hubs needed ASAP! 120-130

Hello

My partner needs a pair of reconditioned & balanced front discs & hubs for his 1968 Volvo Amazon Estate.

Simon at Brookhouse is on the case "as we speak" but can anyone reading this help? I gather they are hard to get hold of?!

Thank you!

Sally : )

Are you stuck somewhere? Only car? There are 122 people across the country with stashes of parts. I have used parts, I'm in Colorado, but if somebody has something closer, it might be faster and cheaper.

Thanks Derek. I think Simon at Brookhouse has already approached him but I will check!

Depending on your budget you might try here.

Note these are exchange items which I think Simon would need too. Are the discs really bad? Although Volvo quote a minimum thickness you might be able to get them ground if it wouldn't take them too much under that.
I assume you've tried Rob at AmazonCars?

Discs & Hubs needed ASAP! 120-130

If I understand you right I'll offer this advice.

When I needed front brake discs for my '67 estate I bought a new pair from my local Volvo dealer. They actually had the BEST price plus 10% off for volvo club participants, although they did not ask to see my id. They did not have them in stock but found them at 2 other dealers, one as far away as Texas, and had them for me the next day. Cost, a little over $400. with tax and shipping.

What's wrong with the hubs? Can you just replace the bearings/races or are they beyond that? Bearing sizes are pretty much universal and each bearing and race is usually clearly marked so they are easy to find and replace. Even unmarked units can be measured and matched. If this is the case find a bearing specialist in your area for the replacements. They are almost always less expensive than OEM and usually have the parts on hand or only a day away.

Threaded studs can be relpaced as well.

Just what are reconditioned discs? Any auto machine shop can balance the discs if this is necessary. I've never heard of anyone doing that after purchase though.

Thank you. I have passed your helpful response on to my partner so he can talk to his local Volvo specialist in the UK about this! I'm not very techie myself..sadly!
