Front strut removal? 900 1996

I've removed front strut/springs on my 240 and now I need to replace the strut assembly on our 96 960. Does this require a spring compressor and air hammer to remove the top nut. Doing R&R on the front end next week - thinking of doing most of the work myself and letting a shop just do the strut/mount/bearing. 186k and my wife doesn't notice potholes or curbs since she started terrorizing this fine beast!

Thanks!

Yes, you need a spring compressor. You shouldn't need an air impact for the top nut, but I can't see any corrosion from where I sit as I type this, and I don't know if someone has re-assembled it with any air impact wrench.

I've done a lot of them, and I haven't used an air impact on the top nut yet.
