Anyone used the scan-tech 240 hall sensor? 200 1986

I know, I know, but it's half the price of the Bosch one that is probly made in mexico or india these days. Thoughts?

thanks for the thoughts guys, I did give up and order the full Bosch one. It looks easier to change than the head mounted one, this block mount style. Seems like I remember it being a pain with rivets and such on the 745T awhile back.

While on the subject, the diagram shows a lock ring above the tone ring or whatever you call it in the distributor, but darn if I see it. Is it recessed into a groove? Looks like just remove it and waddle the window ring dealy out and replace the pickup plate.

Just in case you don't get a response based on experience (specifically with a Hall-effect sensor) I'll pass along this bit of advice given me before, which I did not use myself in reference to Scan Tech. You might be bolder than I am.

Here's that unheeded advice: "Buy both and examine them side by side. Judge for yourself and return the one you don't use."

That way you can report on the differences and save someone else this question. Don't be too concerned about being unable to "see" electrical part quality. It usually shows through in the finishing.

I suggest this, because I know you are an experienced and discriminating brick owner, and I doubt I've heard of anyone actually replacing a Hall-effect plate on a 240 distributor in at least 5 years. Lots of JY distributors being traded though.

To be a bit argumentative, I've not avoided "Scam Tech" for anything in the past 10 years, knowing they just buy stuff and stick it in blue bags. Nothing has bitten me yet, even though I hear so many disparaging remarks about their molded rubber parts along with packagers URO and MTC. The problem for me is, despite the fact I still maintain 8 bricks, some of them don't get a full physical as often as they ought to.

I'm going to go with previous experience with Scan Tech parts in general and say, "Don't do it." Every Scan Tech part that I've replaced has let me down. The old addage is "You get what you pay for."
