The passenger side wipers on my 1990 240 just quit - drivers side still working - is this serious or simple? any ideas as need to keep the fix cheap?

    Make sure both wipers are in the "parked" position at the bottom of the windshield. Ensure each wiper blade is not frozen to the glass, and the windshield is clear of ice and snow. If the wiper arm still has the plastic nut-cover, GENTLY pry the plastic cover with a screw driver and lift it away from the nut. Be careful, if the outside temperature is below freezing, you risk shattering the plastic cover (BTDT). Use a 13mm wrench to tighten the nut on the passenger side, replace the cover, and "test" the wipers. Good luck.

      this is usually the suspect and pretty common. if you try using your wipers with some snow on the windshield, the nut will loosen itself so the wiper won't move. this prevents further damage from happening.
      if the grooves in the mechanism that moves the wipers have worn down, there is nothing for the wiper to "catch" on and you will have to replace this piece.

        If the wiper arm mounting cracked, it may not have anything to do with the linkage or motor.

          The motor is fine as the drivers side works - will have to get my hands on it tomorrow.
          I just discovered this website - very nice to have the quick answwers and online forum as opposed to the Bricks Digest site that is only once a day and then another day for replys, etc.
          Have you found any other forum or online guides to fixing specific items that may be better than Chiltons or Bentely books?
