Installing heated seats in Non-HS 940 900 1994

I have a 90 740 wagon doner car.
94 940 wagon that already has the nice leather seats in it from the 90. Is there any HS base wiring in the 94, or do I have to put everthing in to be able to add the heated feature.

I can grab the swiches, wondering if I got to go back to the fuse box, not sure if I want to dig that deep into things..To much potential for colateral damage.

Eric

    Installing heated seats in Non-HS 940 900 1994

    Dear Eric,

Hope you're well. I have a '94 940, without heated seats (it was a Florida/Texas car). It is too cold here, to see whether wiring is present for seat heaters.

If you car doesn't have seat heaters, you'll need the '94 wiring diagram, to install the wiring.

In the FAQs, there is a section dealing with installing a powered passenger seat in a car that was not so equipped (most 940s did not come with a powered passenger seat).

That discussion will give you an idea of what's involved. For heated seats, you'll need to install the switches, and the wires that run from the switches, to the each seat.

When removing the driver's seat, you will need to make safe the SRS system. You'll need to disconnect the battery negative cable clamp from the negative battery terminal, and put it in a plastic bag. This cuts power supply to the air bag sensor, affixed to the floor pan, under the driver's seat. You should then wait 30 minutes, for capacitors in the sensor to discharge. If the sensor is thumped - i.e., if you drop a seat on it - it could trigger an airbag deployment. At close quarters, that can be lethal. It will also be costly: both airbags, the sensor, the both seat belts - and their wiring harnesses - will have to be replaced. An airbag sensor is about $1,200.

    Hope this helps.

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook
