PRV engine worth more than I thought it was ;-) 200

Amazing. Someone (w/ no skin in it) probably told him they were not unlike gold.

A friend has a decent 90 240 with an overheated motor. I offered $250 (which I thought was high) but his brother-in-law (who works in a restaurant I think) told him he "shouldn't take a penny less than $1,000 ... rare ... collector ...."

I've sent several folks to him to look at it. One offered $700 (the body was really nice). Nope.

Now he's down to $500 or so but it's been sitting in a barn for 5+ years now. Calipers are frozen;, mice are enjoying the wire insulation & foam; and the dampness is getting to the rockers and wheel lips. And the cylnders have been filled with coolant.

I'm always amazed at what people think is valuable, and stories like this are always a disappointment. My brother had a pretty decent '91 Mazda Miata with about 170K on it. It needed a water pump, battery and an alternator, but it ran well. He wanted 3.5K for it three years ago, "not a penny less." It's been sitting outside for three years now; hasn't been started, has four flat tires and is covered with leaves and debris.... Ugh.

Wow,

I have one in my corner, I was going to junk it. I believe however that it is really worth little more then scrap.

The Volvo might be worth $1000, if it is as he says. He should just sell the whole car.

Hmm, if he believes that these engines are worth money, then maybe I should try to sell him one.

I think the zero key must have stuck, as there are two, possibly three, zeros too many....
Either that or he has a severe crack cocaine dependency.
