ignition switch, coil & the armored cable 444 444-544

does anyone have a photo of one of theses the can post...
it seems the one in my car is not fitting in the hole in the dash correctly...
the bracket the you screw into the dash under neath dones not seem to line up..
i know i talk gibberish..or is there a special bracket im missing...the iginition end has a small bracket on it..but it does not line up withe holes under the dash...if it did line up the ignition would not reach the ignition hole in the dash.

i have a 1958 pv444 6v

    Do you know for certain that the unit you have is correct for the car? There are (were) different types, depending on the year. The earlier coil/ignition units were slightly smaller, that is, the cable was slimmer, the lock cylinder part was also smaller. The "tab" with which you screwed it into the underside of the dashboard was different, with the earliest types extending back about 2 inches along the cable, and the later types sort of folded under in a "U", so it mounted closer to the keyhole in the dash. Look to see where the 2 side-by-side holes on the cylinder are, and compare them with the holes under the dashboard.
