ignition key: half in/half out 120-130

My '68 122; the ignition key is half in/ half out of ignition switch. I cannot remove the key. Prior to this dilemna, when i turned the turned the key the engine did not crank and i did not hear any clicks. Howver, there is power to radio and lights. How should i proceed ??? Is there an issue with the ignition switch ?? Please advise. Thanks

Your key did not return to the 0 position. Try pushing the key back in, if the radio still plays then you need to turn the key slowly until the radio is off.

The only issue with the locks is the hard return spring for the starter position, which gets too hard and has us installing push buttons to engage the starter.

If you get the key out, spray the inside with graphite. Do not use WD40 or any other oil.

Is it the original Neimann key? If so get some new ones cut using the number on the key to get an exact replica.

You will not be able to remove the key until it is in the "off" position.
Should come out fairly easily then. There may very well be an issue with the switch.
(could also be somewhere else.)
