1987 244 brake bleeding nightmare! 200

I cant get my brakes to bleed.I replaces 3 calipers with beck arnley remans.Even put in a reman master cylinder.Girling brakes on mine with vented rotors.
I have been using a mity vac brake bleeder and using the proper sequence to bleed them.Still even after 2 quarts plus of brake fluid thru the system i have nothing but a temporary hard pedal.

I am really at a loss here.Never before have i had such difficulty getting brakes to bleed. My sequence is per manual and per some brickboard members.Even tried traditional bleeding sequence(most other cars) which worked 2 years ago when i replaced one caliper.

Anyone know whats i can do?Im not pumping brake pedal more than half pump when the mighty vac is sucking fluid from bleed valves.so not using much pedal travel.
Im guessing the problem is not the proportioning valve becauese the brake system was fine before.

Girling brakes on mine with vented rotors.

Also, check your new front calipers for mis-matched halves. It is quite common among remans. Look for the punch marks made to identify correct assembly. When they are assembled wrong, you'll never get the air out.

Art,thanks once again. So the picture you posted has punch marks.Im guessing this caliper is a mismatch right? The punch marks are different sizes. So when it stops raining her in the Seattle area I will look for identical sized punch marks. Is that correct?
I read in the forum about somebody who had a mis-match.Didnt know it was a common thing.Ive always trusted Beck Arnley products. We will soon see if its their doing or just the Mity-Vac is not the tool for a Volvo brake system.
Thanks again,

Rexall

It's not the SIze of the caliper 'dimples'... 200

...it's the LOCATION. Both should be on the bottom of the caliper.
It's the rebuilder's error, not the seller's.

All you need to do is look at the top joining line.
If the outer half has a dimple, it's WRONG.
It's upside down and cannot be completely bled.

P.S.

You can use your MityVac to pressure bleed by using the pressure port and a modified MC cap as others have described.

Rex,

The size of the mark is not what is the important thing. The important thing is that they align.

A little ¨A¨ is still an ¨a¨.

Did you bench bleed the new master cylinder before installing it? That if the effective way of purging the MC of air before connecting the brake line to then bleed the system.

The altered cap Trev refers to would look like this:

Good luck,

Pressure bleed 200

Vacuuming doesn't work well because air can get sucked in around the bleeder.

The most important part of a pressure bleeder is the reservoir cap with an air valve installed. If you use a tire valve in the cap, you can use an ordinary bike pump to pump up pressure, open bleeder and bleed, close bleeder, top up reservoir, repeat.

Pressure bleed 200

Yes,I feel that is what needs to be done.Originally that was my plan,to make a master cylinder bleeder such as the ones posted here.I wasted 119.00 on the mity-vac bleeder.
Thanks for your input.

I have never had much luck bleeding with a vacuum. It seems that the vacuum can suck air in from places where it would not ever be a problem under pressure. Vacuum can pull air past cups that expand and keep it out under pressure, for example.

I was 100% on the traditional "bleed the brake with pedal pumping" until now.
This has been irriting to say the least.
Only my second Volvo and I like it.
Thanks

Hello,

Make sure to floor the pedal repeatedly when bleeding a new master cylinder.
