radiator-'to keep or not to keep-' 200 1989

Seeing as we have not a large amount of storage space, my wife has been nag****-- uh-- suggesting to me that I get rid of the 2 row radiator I’ve been keeping in a box since I removed it from our wagon to replace it with a 3 row all metal one which could be repaired if ever need be. Got the 3 row brand NEW off Ebay at a great price about 6+ months ago and it has been just fine. I wanted to keep the old one “just in case” but her argument is even if the metal one “went out”, I could just have it fixed as I told her that when I bought the 3 row-er. Since it's been 6+ months and the “new” one is great, any opinions about either keeping or disposing of it -the "old" one, selling it or maybe even giving away the “old one” ? If I sold it , probably around $25 or so. The money is really not an issue but the ol* la** -uh -wife says why not get a few bucks for it? If space were not an issue I would just keep it for sure. -but still---

I had two plastic cap and aluminium ones out of an '86 & '91.

I tossed them both as junk, as they are! The only advantage they had was being about 6 lbs. lighter and yet to(maybe)do the same job as the three row. I'll take reliability first, thank you very much!

If it is one of those types. I would give it the heave-ho. Just for the peace of mind that another person won't have to deal with the plastic cap and their crimp leaks.

Having it on the road for someone else that might just happen to be in front of you, somewhere, someday! If you see someone's Volvo stopped for that reason you might have to ask yourself ... Was it that one?

I'm not one for ducking things and this is not the season to be a duck either!

Translated to say ... "hasta la vista, baby" or "adios".

    Phil

All I can say is 'I kept mine'

It had a slow slow weep when I replaced it but if the 'new' one ever goes bad , I can do a swap while waiting for the replacement.
With the Manual Transmission, the swap is a 30 minute job... It takes 2 minutes just to drain the fluid.

I would give it away rather than sell it. Seems like a lot of trouble for 25 dollars; you have to list it, deal with the crazy buyers, pack it up and ship it. Then you might get the crazy who gives you a hard time when it develops a leak in a week, month or year from now.

Local craigslist could be a possible place to list it. Does it fit any other vehicle brands that someone might be able to use it for? I've got a radiator too that sits and I have to wonder if its worth holding onto seeing that a replacement is must a pic-a-part a way. Look for other 240's in the next few weeks and maybe offer up the radiator for $10 or free.

I just threw out three hubcaps that didn't match any of my vehicles. I've been saving them for a few years when they came off my sister's 240. The next day I stopped by a shop since I know the owner and there was a white 245 in the bay. It needed one of those hubcaps that I had tossed the night before and had been picked up that morning. I felt kind of stupid but they have been littering the parents garage for a while.

Tough call but don't throw it out. Give it away if you must.
