FYI Oxygen sensor 200

Some guy on Ebay has the 13034 Bosch sensor for $60 + $6.00 shipping. Pretty good price if interested. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Bosch-13034-Oxygen-Sensor-1987-93-Volvo-O2-Sensor-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQfitsZMakeQ3aVolvoQ7cModelQ3a240QQhashZitem3cb1bec0c3QQitemZ260680106179QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

    Oxygen sensor interchange list 200

Here's a neat list. Someone on the board sent me this years ago. Prices have changed, but not much. Hope it's useful.

I'm thrilled with our "new" local O'Reilly (nee Kragen). Good stock, and they get parts next day, even on Saturday. If I order on Sunday, it's on hand at 8 AM Monday morning!

Discrepancy in 740/940NA Regina FI O2 Sensor Applications 200

This may not apply to many of us, but the list is wrong in calling out NTK 25003 as the direct fit O2 sensor for all Regina FI cars:

      740NA (Regina):→25003 NGK/NTK and 940NA (Regina):→25003 NGK/NTK

Prior to 1994, the correct "direct fit" sensor for 740/940NA is NTK 25002. The difference is in the harness terminals, as shown below (RockAuto Pics):

      Pre 1994 740/940 Regina, NTK 25002 O2 Sensor

      1994-5 940 Regina, NTK 25003

Bruce, you are the man. I have made some changes to "my" document. I'd be right pleased if I could e-mail it to you for a proof read. I'll also edit the original post if possible, but probably too late. dpsam-at-sbcglobal-dot-net

Sure Dave, but it would be a short read because that Regina-NTK error only shows up in 2 places (740 and 940), and I'm not really up on anything else.

Tony, as far as I know, and have often been told, other than differences between two and three wire, almost everything about the part numbers is related to the silly plugs or the length of the leads! However, if one wanted to be extra cautious, I would feel confident in saying that any sensor for, say, an LH2.2 fitted 200 will be fine for an LH2.2 700. I've used several different numbers on the list for different applications. I like to have the list more as a means to address the inventory issues at the parts store than anything else. They constantly change what they stock based on what sells. Since I almost always reuse the pigtail, I usually just buy the shortest lead sensor I can get, which is always the cheapest.

I've often wondered just how much resistance differences there are among all these Sensors. It would be an interesting test to have teh same vehicle, keep throwing different O2 sensors at it and see if it directly affects Emissions and gas mileage. I wonder if it is all hoopla is just a matter of Wire length and connectors.

          my '89 is LH2.4

Based on my experience with cars passing the, to say the least: "difficult", Cali smog tests, they all work. Awhile back I was faced with the prospect of changing the sensor in my wife's '98 V70 GLT. It's waa-a-a-y back there. Long pigtail. I think it was over $100 at Auto Zone and even FCPG is way up there. Heck with that. I bought the universal and spliced it in. No problems. Mileage want way up.

It is. All about direct fit, the demand for each style, and competition.

You can class all the zirconia narrow-band sensors into 1,3, and 4 wire versions. The 1-wire are unheated. The 3-wire are heated, but the sensor is referred to ground through the exhaust pipes. The 4-wire provides its own ground wire, better than relying on the exhaust pipes.

I agree with Dave's approach - buy the most popular and inexpensive heated sensor and re-use the custom wires. Others disagree or wring their hands over stifling the reference air with their splicing techniques.

Back in the 1800's the Tate's Watch Company of Massachusetts wanted to produce other products, and since they already made the cases for watches, they used them to produce compasses. The new compasses were so bad that people often ended up in Canada or Mexico rather than California . This, of course, is the origin of the expression,..."He who has a Tate's is lost!"

I just changed a header and CAT on a 90 245. Not having the money for a new sensor I took the 3 wire sensor off my 83 originally bought for my 86 and it just reaches to the CAT. Even if one needed to reach the CAT the cheaper non splice sensor meant for the manifold will work.

Now I just plan to use a new $20 single short wire with splice crimp already provided for the 83. I've had it in the tool box of spare parts I take on long trips. Seeing that the heated element is not mandatory.

Also if anyone is looking for a crazy deal on a Bosal CAT look at Parts Geek's website. I got a direct fit for about $80 plus shipping. Fixed flange.
