Removing AC from 82 GLT 200

Good day group,
Just did a message search for info on removing the AC from a 240.
I didn't find to much and would like to know if anyone else has
done the operation to their brick.
The car is a 1982 GLT and the AC has not worked for at least 10
years now and the bushings and or bearings in the AC are getting
noisy.
If I do the removal what has to come out, what parts will
have to be replaced, eg: brackets, belts, pulleys.

Year and part numbers would be great to have for a junker search

Thanks,

John I.

I've removed everything connected with AC from my 84 245. I was fortunate to find the rare factory non-AC power steering bracket at the wrecking yard. That's all I have, adaptation-wise. Wait, you'll use a different belt for the power steering pump which will now run directly off the crank pulley. It's a 10x940. (the alt. belts are 10x925) The parts houses have the right size. Just specify non-AC.

So the actual AC unit comes out, of course. The condenser in front of the radiator goes, (or was it behind?) The hoses going through the firewall on the passenger side were removed and well plugged, leaving the grommets and using sika-flex, (my choice), to seal. I even removed the controls from the dash.

I wish I could say which years this works for. This is my only Volvo.

Here's what you want to see under the hood of the parts car.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum.
Steve

Thanks for the reply Steve. Much appreciated.
I now know what to look for at the wreckers.
I'll also do a search of the parts manuals
and see if I can get a part#

Thanks again
John I.
