Buzzzzzz from Pump 900 1992

Just changed my fuel filter and the buzzz or "static" coming from the pump cradle is still present but seems a little quieter. When I turn the key on the pump runs about two seconds and shuts off so it's coming up to pressure. No running problems, but based on the FAQ I assume it's the pre-pump going. Just wondering if I should keep driving it a few days until parts arrive. Any advice appreciated.

Hello,

Increased noise velocity is indicative of pump cavitation. Operation of pumps at excessive head heights will lead to dramatically increased roller wear.

What would cause a cavity or "bubble"? Do you think the pre pump is barely working? Plugged pre filter?

Yes,

There is insufficient inlet pressure at the main pump suction to prevent fuel volatilization.

Also, excessive internal clearance will lead to slippage across the pressure boundary.

Sure,

I’m sure it will be alright in the short term unless it is screaming and howling.
