Are 940 Wagon Rear Twin Seat Belt Receiver/Storks the Same? 900

Hi,
My rear seat twin seat belt stork/receiver needs replacing as it only engages on one side. The wagon is a 93 940.

The part no. for my faulty unit is 6812311 2491.

My questions are.... is part no. 6812311 4234 compatible ?

Are there other part no.s compatible with 6812311 2491?

Thank you in advance.
John H from Downunder

Dear John,

Hope you're well. The now-superseded Volvo Dealer parts database (VADIS) - for models sold in North America - does not have two-part part numbers. Thus, 6812311 is a valid part number, for a "belt catch". I do not know what to do with the final four digits.

In any case, I'd guess that the seat belt receiver for a 740 wagon would also fit. Both cars used broadly similar fittings, at least after 1989.

A salvage yard should have an interchange manual (hard-copy or on-line), which will tell you from which models, can this part be had. A Volvo dealer should also be able to do this.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook

Thanks for your replies. Your help is much appreciated.

My rear seats went unused for sometime but now we have grand children, their use seems to be more frequent. Important to look after our precious cargo!

I can confirm that earlier ones will indeed fit. My 1993 945 has a seatbelt latch from a 1989 745, and it works fine although externally fairly different looking. As long as the metal seatbelt tongue in the donor car matches your car, they will interchange.

John
