780 bertone turbo questions 700 1989

looked at an 89 bertone today. dealer said that the dipstick pops out and causes some oil to leak onto engine. i looked under the hood and sure enough, the dipstick was not flush to the opening. what could cause this? also, the heater fan doesn't work. what kind of work/cost would i be getting into with that? i know that the 240s are basically built around the heater core...

If the dipstick blows out it means high crankcase pressure. It commonly occurs if the flame trap gets clogged up on an NA engine, but assuming this is a 4 cyl turbo it wouldn't have a flame trap - maybe a clogged up oil separator box though. A little tricky to get to, but not expensive. Replacing it provides a good chance to clean up the intake and throttle body and replace the intake gasket!

The blower motor isn't very hard to service either - nothing like a 240! It's above the knee bolster in the passenger leg well - you might need a short flexible extension to get to a couple of the bolts that hold it in , but it's a 30-60 minute job to replace!

    Jim
