Volvo Part Numbers - 1993 240 Cam Rack Boots - No Vent Hole

Hello,

Do you know the Volvo Part Numbers for the Cam Style Rack plastic Tierod Boots WITHOUT vent hole?

Here is a photo of my rack. I ordered some and they were wrong. I want to order from the dealer and use the part number so they don’t screw up.

Thank you so much!!!

1) You have a '93 now?

2) What were the wrong numbers you ordered?

3) Picture doesn't look like a CAM rack. No access for adjustment at bottom of pinion shaft.

4) Picture too huge. Need to see the outer end of the boots.

Hello,

The rack was from a 93 at the junkyard. I fitted it up to the 77.

It really could be any style, but it doesn’t have the large dougnut on the tierod.

Outstanding!
But how did you adapt the '93 spline O.D. (19m) to the '77 U-Joint I.D. 14mm???
That's a big 5mm difference.

And again:
2) What were the wrong numbers you ordered?
(I don't want to give you the same numbers.)

270597 looks good 200 1993

The best # I can find is 270597. I don't know if it has the vent hole or not, but if it does what's wrong with that? Seems like the bellows need to breath as one is compressed and the other extended.
Tasca Volvo's description is:

270597 $27.50 $0.00 $19.45 Steering - Steering gear & linkage - Tie rod boot
Tie rod boot, all models - power, 240 1991 - 1993

There must be a variety of CAM racks over the years. If yours is "marked" 1359900 on it somewhere, then the 270597 bellows will be right for sure. See this eEuroparts description for more details. (Also note the absence of vent tube hole on the big end.)

You've apparently done a fine job of fitting the later rack. I'd call it false economy to cap it off with aftermarket Karlyn junk. But if that's your choice, eEuroparts and FCP Groton both have the 270597 for under $8.00. eEuro has several other CAM bellows, depending on "marked" numbers mentioned above.
