240 Michelin X Radials - size 195 70 OK? 200

Has anyone had Michelin X Radials 195 70’s on their 240 wagon (mines a 93)? How did they compare to the 195 75? Hopefully they will work because my boss is at Sams getting them put on as I post. I really need new tires now (like today)and they have the 195 70’s in stock…I thought I had read here the 70 size was ok, but on trying to re-research that post I can’t find it……
Thanks!

Please be aware, if you are not already, that the original tire size for 240 wagons was taller than for sedans.

I'm not cirticizing your choice. The 195/70 Michilens will serve you well.

But there will be a speedometer and odometer error. The speedometer will indicate you are travelling faster than you actually are, which is not necessarily bad. And the odometer will register more miles than you have actually traveled.

If actual mileage is a concern for either record keeping or fuel economy calculation you should multiply your odometer or trip meter reading by .96. That will get you close to actual mileage.

195 70 is the most common size for our bricks as the choice of 75 series tires is now limited. They'll be fine.

I think you will be disappointed when you go to goodyear. It's hard to beat Michelin.

Im using Michelin Harmonys' 195- 70s and they are fine. (I usually get mine at Big O-most always get a deal for 4.). However Im considering possibly going to Goodyear when I need tires next time. Not sure yet. Goodyear tells me I dont need the expensive Eagles but Im willing. I thought they would be eager to sell there top expensive line but the sales person I was chatting with said it would be too much tire for the need. I just wonder if on a less expensive set they actually make more profit?? Anyway the current Michelins got quite a bit of good use left. When Im ready to actually buy I will check in on the BB.

--- Yes, salesman ALWAYS lie to you, not try and find the best product for your needs. If you're an old Grandpa, I doubt you need Eagle F1 performance tires. If you're looking at 14" tires for performance, you need to give your head a shake :P

With all due respect, of course :)

Im looking for the best quaity tires suited for our brick-ones that will have great life and a nice safe ride. I dont know much at all about Goodyears so im in the "checking it out" phase. I just heard Eagles are great, but im aware they might not be the best for our brick. I do want performance but not so much as to sacrifice ride and longevity so i need to be more educated on the Goodyears. I know that. Just like when i bought the Michelins-they have a more expensive tire but would have been a waste of dollars for our need. You dont know me but i do look deeper when i am going to lay out a few bucks for tires. If I went in with a new "Vette Im sure Id be looking at something different also. Give me a break. I'll also research reviews on the 'net and ask more here on the 'Board when its actually close to tire time. Safety is one of my biggest concerns and to get the proper tire for our brick Im willing to pay for it. So far about $100-$125 per tire is about the range, but I'd go higher IF it were actually and literally warranted. Later.

Tony - thanks for the link, looks like the 70's are a closer match than the 75's. She's home now and all is well so that's the good news. The bad news is I missed the $70 off on a set of 4 by one week......
