Wiper problems 200

I have been having some wiper problems and thought I had them solved. I recently did the magnet repair on the wiper motor and that saved me some money and every thing was working great. No more grinding, clunking and intermittent wiping was working. On my drive to my brothers house I changed the wiper from intermittent to normal and the wipers stopped working and are stuck in the up position. After reading around on the board here and have come up with this list of things to check.

1. Check the magnet
2. Check the ground
3. Check the relay

Is there anything else I should check why I am at this? I'm hoping wanting to try and do this is one shot as my Volvo is stranded at my brothers house due to the rain.

Thanks for the help.

If both your wiper motor and washer are not working, check fuse 2.

    Regards,

I have an 1988 245 and the back wiper works just fine. Would you happen to know if fuse 2 runs both front and back?

Not sure, the book in out in the back of Inga right now.

Know the front washer and motor are on fuse 2 for sure. Had that sucker crack while I was working on adding wires for gauges and moving the lighter power over to constant power. Had the same issue the next time I needed the wipers and replacing the fuse fixed it.

        Regards,

        Paul

PS: If it's not the fuse check the chassis of the motor to chassis, should be less than .2 ohms. The contact can get eaten up and loose contact, that will stop your motor if it does. The step after that would be motor most likely.

Replacing fuse #2 did the trick. The fuse wasn't blow by any means so I guess it is time to clean all my fuse contact just for good measure.

          Thanks for the help.

Well it rained really haard yesterday in cluding some dime sized hail so I didn't really get a chance to look at the issue that much. I checked the fuse and I looked fine, I will still replace the fuse today if the weather is good. I think you definantly have me going in the right direction, I tried to honk the horn just to check and that didn't work.

Thanks for all the help so far I will let you know what happens after work.
