Brake Fittings size - '68 Dual MC 120-130

Can anybody tell me the size of the threads on a '68 MC? 3/16"?

Paul

The tubing is probably 3/16" as Walrus mentioned. Most brake fittings using 3/16" tubing are 3/8"-24. There is a metric size that is very close, I think it's M10 but can't recall the pitch (although I know it is classified as "very fine"). I don't think any og the OEM components on a 122 used metric sizes.

3/16" sounds more like the size of the tubing.
Take a 3/8"-24 UNF bolt and see if it screws in easily, or if that size nut screws on the mating fitting.
I think that is what the thread is but don't have one readily available to check.
(I do have one for a 69 140/164 if that seems to be the same.)

Yup! 3/8-24. I had the second piston stuck in a '68 MC. I used a grease fitting in the back outlet pipe, plugged up everything else except the 7/8" hole and pumped grease into the cylinder until it popped out.

The threads of the outlet pipes were gummed up with junk. I cleaned out the threaded holes with a cleanout tap (I guess they are called a rethread tap or chase tap).

      Thanks-

      Paul
