122 starts/runs/wont idle 120-130

I have a 65 122 wagon, and it stopped running at a stop sign yesterday. Took me by surprise because this car is so reliable. Bit about the car...it is in very good shape, doesnt have much rust, and is kept dry in my garage. I drive it about 15 days a month, so it stays pretty active.

Here are the symptoms: I stopped at a stop sign and put on the turn signal. Car died. No amp+oil lights lit up. I hit the starter button, key still in run position...engine turned over and started with no problem, but as it reved back down, it died....no idle...Turned key off, then back to first position(run) no amp/oil lights, car stared as before but would not idle. Checked fuses-all ok. Started car again.....found that I could keep it running if I revved it, and kept the idle up....drove around a parking lot and then proceeded to drive the short trip home. Died before every stop light. When I hit the brakes with turn signal on, the amp/oil lit light up. Got home, parked it. Two hours later, seemed fine(oil amp lights in key position #1) Started/idled.

Modifications to the car:The car has a push button starter switch that has been there for years, I recently installed a Swedish embassy tail light kit, and a year before I had to put in a toggle switch for the turn signals. All of these items seem to be fine, but I noticed last night that although my brake lights work(and work great now), when my lights are on, the tailights don't light up. I changed bulbs back there in the last year, it is possible I have the wrong ones installed.

What of all of this is connected, that would make the car start but not idle. I am looking for places/grounds/crossed wires etc to check. Elecricity is not my strong area.... I do have a multi-meter.

Anything obvious that I am overlooking?

Thanks

Check the rubber hoses that go to the intake manifold.
Sounds like a broken PCV hose to me.
The PCV valve is in the hose that goes from the intake manifold over the engine
to the breather box near the dipstick.
If the hose is not broken the PCV valve may need cleaning.
I use charcoal starter liquid. Put a finger over one end of the valve, pour some in
the other end, close that end and shake.
Then pour it out. Pouring it onto a folded newspaper will allow you to see what you washed out of it.

Thanks for the reply. I checked the hose and valve....the hose is in need of replacement.....some cracking and evidence of leakage.....greasy and black on the ends. I will change it out this weekend. The valve is pretty new, but I will give it a cleaning while I have it off.

      Thanks
