I recently purchased a 1985 244DL. The passenger door lock is the only lock that did not open when the driver side lock was pushed/pulled. I opened the door panel and took out the actuator. The rubber gasket on the actuator was ripped and had let water in. The original part number is 1380298. I have found some online for about $100. Is this what I am going to have to pay or is there an alternative?

Apart from the good responses you've got so far, one alternative could be to get a universal kit. A few years ago I installed a Volvo actuator in the driver's door and spliced in a Commando keyless entry system which I'm very happy with. In your situation, if you want keyless entry, you could get the Power Door Lock Kit w/ Keyless Entry (2 Door) which includes a replacement for the broken actuator in the passenger door, an actuator for the driver's door, universal mounting hardware, and a keyless system. This would set you back 75 USD. [What I'd really recommend though, if you go the keyless route, is to get two original Volvo actuators which will bolt straight on and add a bare-bone keyless system like the Commando KE-40 (40 USD).]

More than you asked for, but yes, there are alternatives.
