Does anyone know a good source for door panel clips? You know, the metal clips that shove into the 1/4inch hole in the metal and get rusty and then refuse to budge back out the next time you need to take the panel off.

If you have the need to remove the panel again then you should take the time to wax the clips before putting it back on,it will keep things working smooth.

I got my 50 clips today, spring steel and nice and shiney.

The clips can be made to work, with a little careful bending and squeezing. The Volvo panel is too thick, so the portion of the clip that attaches to the panel needs to be expanded a little. The part that goes into the door metal is also a little too wide, but a pair of needle nose pliers and it fits real nice.

I will be replacing the terribly rusted and broken clips with the new ones.

PS:

The prop shaft is now balanced after turning it 180 degrees!

The windlass, rope that goes around the 4 doors under the headliner, is all new and looks great. No one will ever know that it is a reproduction, it looks completely stock.

I think the ones you indicated will work OK.
$8 for 50 is a good price.
If you only need 2 or 3 I have a few.

I need 10 just for the driver's door! The other doors also need some, they are all rusted really bad.

Any hints to repair the holes for those that ripped and no longer can hold clips?

You mean the holes in the metal or the holes in the upholstery panel?
I made new panels out of 1/8" tempered masonite. The hard part was finding 1/8" staples
to fasten the upholstery fabric onto it.

I type as bad as I talk sometimes! I meant holes in the back of the panels where the clips are torn out along with the cardboard, or what ever that is. It has gotten so wet over the years, the glue comes off in layers.

Masonite?? Nice and thin and then just staple the old vinyl back on... hmmm worth a thought. A little bit of extra work, but do able.

If you use tempered masonite they are much more moisture resistant and last well.
They are also good and sturdy!

Page 121 #1969 looks to be the best bet. But it is hard to tell if it will fit or not. The picture says actual size, but at 100% view it appears to be 2 inches long.
