PS Reservoir to Pump Hose 200 1986

Hi all,

Has anyone replaced the large PS hose from the reservoir to the pump? Mine is original, it's wet all the time, and all I can find is the low-pressure one from the rack back to the reservoir.

I'd like to change my leaky reservoir and both hoses to/from it--preferably all at once. Seems to me that anything oil-resistant (with a high enough pressure rating) should do the job. Any known sources? Other suggestions? Thanks!

Just did one this morning! I went to AutoZone last week for hose. They no longer carry bulk hydraulic hose above 3/8". You need 5/8 from the reservoir to the top of the pump. I went to Motion Industries. Counter man sold me a "remnant", about two feet of low pressure, hydraulic hose for $3. More than enough to do two cars.

If the hose is between the reservoir and the pump, then it probably is low pressure else the reservoir would blow.

I'd try thick walled vinyl tubing available at hardware stores, but that's me.

That's exactly why this forum is so superb! Trev29, your correction was most helpful--and sorely needed! My experience with hydraulics is almost nil.

Thanks to all of you for the responses--and I'll report back with the results.

A lot of auto parts stores will custom fabricate the hoses for you with the right ends all crimped and ready to go. Just take the old hose to the parts store with you as a pattern. An alternate route would be to scour the junkyards for a newer 240, I think 91-93 had pumps with the reservoirs attached to them. A more compact setup. Take the hoses and the pump and you'll be in business.
