Just about to get my second emissions test and I find that my wondering idle even with the air mass meter unhooked is due to the 1 year old intake hose having a split on the nipple to the Idle control valve. I looked on Tasca's site but couldn't find the part. Wondering if anyone has found an original Volvo hose? Tired of cheap parts that aren't worth the money or time.

I bought a replacement air intake hose from Tasca Volvo about 3-4 years ago, and it is a much tigher fit to the throttle place housing than the original equipement.

I clean my throttle place every 10K-15K and this is a little frustrating.

When the original on the 83 failed after about 15 years, I got one from IPD who usually have decent quality parts, but it was noticeably a lighter gauge of plastic. It developed a split down in the folds before long and drove me nuts trying to figure out what was wrong until I discovered it. I've pulled many from later year 240's in the JY and culled down to two good (I think) ones in the spares drawer. OE is best.

At my dealer, the drawer where they keep the hose (called "Fresh Air Duct", if I remember right) is right in front of the parts counter window, and the last time I was there when one of the guys pulled open the drawer, I saw that they had four or five.

Anyway, the Volvo p/n is 1367454-4, and the list price was $33.95 (not cheap, but you wrote that you were tired of cheap parts).

Be sure to get a strong clamp to seal it against the throttle body throat -- I had a whole adventure (reported last month on this forum) about failing emissions and a lousy idle, and one of the main reasons is that there was a subtle leak around where this duct (although brand new, and a Volvo part) goes into the throttle body. I thought I had a really tight clamp around it, but a mechanic put a smoke machine into the intake, and a cloud of smoke came up (looked like the BP oil leak) -- he fixed it by putting some black goo around the mouth of the TB and then putting the duct back on, and (with a little more fiddling) the idle and emissions were good.
Apparently, the old throttle body (although I had cleaned it) had enough roughness on its surface that the duct couldn't really seal against the bare metal throat.

Just wanted to mention 1367454 is the correct hose. I agree the aftermarket version (the ones I use) seem more delicate at half the price.

Today I bought a roll of gasket material from Checker Auto Parts. Allows for cutting your own gasket. I'm going to try and put some of it around the throttle body and cinch down the hose over it if I can get the stuff under the hose. But I thought that would be better than using anything with silicone in it for fear of damaging the O2 sensor. I recently pulled a very clean AMM from a 740 at the JY so I'm going back tomorrow to see if its OE and if its clean enough to use before I buy a new one.

Thanks for the replies. Taping the nipple with duct tape helped give the car some more pep. Still fighting the bad idle when first starting after the car sits for an hour or so.

Try part numbers 1326110 and 1336080. Tasca shows them at $21 and $23.

thanks. their diagram didn't show the intake hose just the air box and hoses that hook to it.
