Is anyone familiar with the cruise units installed on different year 240's? The earlier ones had universal cruise systems. Will the early 240 universal units work on later 240's like a 92? If not what year donor car should be used. Thank You

The easiest to fit cruise would be 91 to 93, since I believe they are all prewired for it, but you could most likely fit cruise from any 240 with an electronic speedo. 89 to 90 cruise should work fine if you have all of it's parts. I'm not 100% sure on the earlier versions but I am pretty sure they all run off the "taximeter" output of the speedo, which is found on all 240 electronic speedos.

You would need all of the cruise control parts/wiring harness for whatever system you use. Although the stalk switches look the same, the wiring is often different.

91 to 93 cruise is the best of them. It has it's own vacuum pump so it does not fade on long hills, like the intake operated ones do.

actually, i've always wondered if it's possible to adapt the 740/940 cruise control throttle pulling mechanism (triple grooved pulley, bellow mounted next to it) to a 240.

Yep, must be 91-93 donor car.

That includes the brain and turn signal stalk.

1990-93 all had the last gen cruise control. Car is pre-wired, just get the bits.
