rear bearing play 200 1993

I have a very low pitched growning/growling sound especially noticeable at low speeds and when turning in a parking lot. There is some play in and out in the right rear wheel - if it was a front wheel I would say the bearings needed to be adjusted. Does this mean it is time to change the bearings on the half shaft? Should there be zero play? The wheel was actually heating up after driving for awhile so I checked the brakes, which look OK. I haven't looked at the E brake yet though.

Ron see my post from last night. This sounds like the same issue. I too am looking for a fix. If you find something out let me know. I have changed the bearing but still have the issue. The play is excessive. Basham

Basham,

I am looking elsewhere for my groeling noise - I think it is driveshaft U joints binding. I happen to have new ones in stock so plan on replacing them. The heat I'm getting may be due to a sticking caliper.

Good luck,

Ron
