Ok here's the pic - is this sway bar installed correctly? 200 1990

http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/1296/240swaybarend3.gif

my first time posting an image... hopefully it works

I'm just trying to confirm that the sway bar in the image is not installed upside down or something ... it seems like the bushings are not squished in a normal way.

Thanks to anyone who knows!

jack

Kinda loooks to me like its the wrong swaybar. Too much bend. Does not look upside down, but definitely does not look right. Is your car sitting on it's tires, not jacked up in that picture?

First picture is my drivers side, viewed from the front, second is passenger side viewed from the rear. (mine is a '84, but I expect it's about the same)

looking again... I agree with Dave. Look at this stuff when the car is not jacked up. And it looks like your control arm is hanging.

Cannot judge bushings by sight except when the car is on the ground and wheels pointed straight ahead (though, in this case, the straight ahead doesn't make much difference)

That said, it still looks to me like your swaybar has too much bend. What was it off? Was the donor car wrecked in the front?

I guess I never thought that it would look different when jacked up.

Yes the picture is with the car on four jackstands and the wheels on the vehicle.

So I guess I need to get my fat gut under there with the car on its wheels and see what that is like.

I am not sure what car the donor car was since I got the bars in a trade for a tailgate (rust free!).

but both sides are bent in exactly the same way so I think it wasn't wrecked.

Supposedly these bars are from the turbo 200 vehicle that had thicker bars than standard NA 200s.

they definitely feel better than the bars they replaced around turns anyway!

        Thanks guys!

With the control arms hanging the rubber bushing atop the link will get squished. What does it look like with the control arm(s) in a normal position? -- much better I would think--Dave
