Tachometer plus electronic ignition 140-160

I have a 1970 142 with an electronic ignition (borrowed from a 1975 model). Is the Smiths dash-mounted tachometer (installed in some models as an option) compatible with the electronic ignition or will it only work with points?

Yes, you can make this tacho work with electronic ignition. I have recently made this work on my wagon. Check out this thread:

Along the same lines, I have the Crane electronic ignition setup on my car with the Fireball multi-spark discharge box. However Crane tell me I need a $80 converter box to trigger most standard tachs. Anyone have a work around for this?

Thanks
